Bicyclist hit in 55mph zone

First off this story appeared on fox11online.com

However what I have seen the bike fed post about it, is biased, and blames the motorist completely without questioning the negligence of the bicyclist riding in the lane of travel on a 55mph highway.

I am reminded of a blog post I made in march of 2015, it is similar to this case ( except without a hill ) but on a road where it was 45mph, or 55mph depending on the direction.

I posted on the Wisconsin bike federations facebook page about emoting, and not thinking rationally, and all that. They didn’t seem to dispute most of it, but tried to swing me in to believing that a bicyclist should has a right to ride a bicycle in the lane of travel on a highway that is 55mph ( of course that isn’t in exact words as the comments were pulled, so it is hearsay now ), and that  motorists should expect to encounter a bicyclist!! It is absolutely negligent ( and of course it is considered self endangerment &  irresponsible & stupid to ride bicycles on highways )  to ride a bicycle in the lane of travel on any highway, no matter how little traffic there is, it doesn’t matter if you have the same rights as a motor vehicle,  try to use common sense to keep your self safe instead of shifting the burden of responsibility on to the motorist.

Unfortunately they decided they didn’t want to debate anymore, and pulled my comments & blocked me since I didn’t see a comment box.  It appears that Bicycle advocates can’t stand to be questioned or criticized.

Any ways back on topic, I almost forgot to mention that the bicyclist got hit as the motorist crested the hill.  I drove around last weekend with my video camera on my dash board and encountered some pretty hilly roads that you can’t see anything until you reach the very top.

The video below should discredit any bicycle advocate, since stopping distance would take a while.

Edit: 3/5/16 I forgot to add inattentive driving is blamed, which I already had videos up to show what rural driving looks like & going up & over hilly roads looks like.

I also forgot to add a link to the bike feds blog post, so that is now added.

January 23 ’16 Friday Evening news

Manitowoc was getting lake effect snow,  and it went on in to the evening.  However that isn’t my complaint,  it is someone riding a tricycle west bound on reed ave when the snow was reducing visibility,  the light on the back barely lit up, so this person put them self in harms way and endangered them self.  The last thing I want to hear is another one of these foolish bicyclists/tricyclists ended up getting hit.  It is how the bicycle advocates advance their anti-car agenda further.

12/16/2015

I was out for an evening walk Wednesday evening,  and a bicyclist went past with no lights on.  As the bicyclist went up the road he decided to ride his bicycle on the far left side of the road way which would be the wrong side of the road if you were in a motor vehicle, but yet when I see bicyclists ride however they want with impunity the less I support any legislation or any bicycle infrastructure.  Bad bicyclists  are the reason why there is a push back against bicycle lanes and other bicycle infrastructure.  Recently in Manitowoc back in September I believe, there was a group ride to “educate drivers” when bicyclists are the ones that clearly need to be educated.

“Cyclist Appreciation day”

An article about Wisconsin’s santa cycle rampage over on http://www.bicycling.com, bike feds Schlabowske mentions “its kind of like bicyclist appreciation day.”  Let me tell you why that will never happen, it is because of bad bicyclists out there with arrogant smug attitudes that endanger themselves & demonize motorists.  We should celebrate trucker appreciation day, since they are the ones that deliver these bicycles.   Bicycles haven’t done anything significant to even come close to being appreciated.

11/9/2015 Scanner Report

Monday night about 11:15PM I heard over the scanner that there was someone riding an adult tricycle north bound in the lane of travel on Maritime drive in the city of Manitowoc with no lights on.

I thought bicyclists don’t break the law, or endanger themselves.

How can a bicycle be a vehicle when they don’t have the required lights on their bicycles?  Bicycle laws need to be strictly enforced, as it is apparent that many bicyclists are a danger to themselves.

Good example of Bicycle Advocate hypocrisy

I found a real good example of Bicycle Advocate hypocrisy on the Bike Fed facebook page

Here is a screen capture below, if you go to there facebook page they did a 13 second video selfie.

At least one of their members called them out on it.

The wisconsin bike feds response to that person

bike fed response

Now if a motorist would have done a 13 second video selfie & said the same thing, also hauling/pulling something behind it going 12 miles an hour for  13 seconds,  the bicycle lobby would throw a tantrum.  The Bike Fed needs to realize they’re setting a really bad example.  It doesn’t matter if you are a pedestrian, jogger, on skates, skate board, scooter, bicycle, driver, or riding a  “play vehicle” or any thing else I haven’t covered.  I don’t want any of those above mentioned people distracted by something stupid like a video or picture selfie!!  It doesn’t matter if it is a split second or 13 second distraction, bad things happen in the blink of an eye.

This could sink the Vulnerable User law penalty enhancer they want so badly.

Milwaukee group bike ride

I don’t know the roads in Milwaukee at all, I never drove to Milwaukee,  however, I found an article from urban Milwaukee

where there is a bicyclist that has “bicycles allowed full lane”  however, when you look at the article picture they are using the FULL WIDTH of the road way!! Full lane doesn’t mean bicyclist gets to take up the whole road way,  unless it is a real WIDE one way street they’re on, which I mostly doubt, ( I do not know the intersection point they are at, otherwise  ). If anyone has more information,  leave a comment.
