Milwaukee Police pedestrian sting

The Bike Fed seems really ecstatic over a recent pedestrian crosswalk stake out/sting operation.

The person in the video waited out in the road until the car came closer and then decided to start walking.   There was enough time to get across the street before that car got close enough,  this in my eyes is a dishonest way to do this cross walk/pedestrian stings.

The fact that 8k was spent on this poorly executed plan to make drivers look bad so the bike fed can go, “see we told you we need a vulnerable user law!”

According to the census data for Milwaukee, the population is 599,642 which when you put 64 drivers failing to yield up to that large number it is really a non-existent problem.  This is how the bicycle advocates would do the math when drivers complain about bad behavior from bicyclists, “well the number is really low, so it doesn’t exist”  I have applied that type of illogical thinking to come out with my findings above.

Only if police would do stings on pedestrians & bicyclists,  it would be more fair & equal,  remember share the road ( and the rules )?  Pedestrians & bicyclists needs to do their part and follow the rules & laws too, not just only drivers.

Scanner Report 9/8/2015

According to scanner reports there was a bicyclist on highway 151, three calls reportedly came in. No clear whereabouts were given on the bicyclists location.   It’s pretty foolish to ride a bicycle on that road either direction ( considering it was a foggy morning ), especially the portion where the speeds are the highest.  One thing bugs me, why do bicyclists not care about their own safety?  Why do bicyclists refuse to exercise caution & common sense?

Bicycles should be prohibited anywhere the speed limit is over 25 mph for there safety.

Milwaukee group bike ride

I don’t know the roads in Milwaukee at all, I never drove to Milwaukee,  however, I found an article from urban Milwaukee

where there is a bicyclist that has “bicycles allowed full lane”  however, when you look at the article picture they are using the FULL WIDTH of the road way!! Full lane doesn’t mean bicyclist gets to take up the whole road way,  unless it is a real WIDE one way street they’re on, which I mostly doubt, ( I do not know the intersection point they are at, otherwise  ). If anyone has more information,  leave a comment.

Bicycling takes over Manitowoc, share the road awareness

One thing I notice, in all these awareness campaigns, is a subtle arrogance to it.

There are never any awareness campaigns for non-drivers to be aware of the dangers that motorized traffic poses if you don’t use caution & commonsense.

I am not against bicycling, but forcing it upon people isn’t going to help it’s cause.

I also notice bicyclists demand instant respect like they’re privileged,  no you aren’t special because you’re on a bicycle, remember you want to be a vehicle, so you have to follow the same laws as a motor vehicle.

You can apparently be under the influence of alcohol or other controlled substances & ride a bicycle according to the laws ( the bike league has a list of states on bicycling laws ), what was that about the same rights as a motor vehicle?  These loopholes need to be CLOSED!

Bicyclists claim to want to be safe, but there are some who are riding on county road Q and R north of Manitowoc,  that is incredibly dangerous.  Staying safe on a bicycle requires the bicycle operator to have something not so common, common sense on where to ride & where not to.

Why is there so much resistance to educating non-drivers?

Riding at night, I often see bicycles with no lights on.  What if motorists did an awareness drive at night with no lights on?  ( of course I am being sarcastic here to get a point across )  How about an awareness drive, driving at 5 to 7 mph on a 45mph or higher road way?  ( Again sarcasm, they want to bring motorists down to their speed )

Maybe motorists should sell their motor vehicles and get a farm implement,  I often see enclosed tractors that are slightly bigger then a regular riding lawn mower on road ways.   Just to note I have no knowledge at this time about the laws or regulations to operate these on the roadways.

Complete streets, which is the stench of smart growth ( anything that takes away parking or driving lanes is anti-car )

If anyone wants to know what complete streets does, you can go to Two Rivers , and drive up to the north end to 45th ST.  They have taken away parking completely on one side, and given it to bicycles, and they wonder why people are angry!

Here is the minutes from the complete streets advisory committee

People that live on Menasha ave, & Reed Ave between 2nd & 8th streets, You are at risk to losing on street parking.  If you would like to know where to look or follow this issue on your own,  you can go here

I am going to list some streets that may end up with bicycle lanes,  S 35th between meadow Lane, and Viebahn St.  If you want to avoid buying a house where future bicycle lanes maybe put, I would avoid it.

I am unsure about 10th St.   Rapids road south of Waldo Blvd, is another possibility where they could take a lane each direction & give it to bicycles.

Maritime Dr is another road that could lose a lane each direction, yes they already have a off road paved pathway, but a lane each direction could be given to bicycles.

W Custer St, west of Rapids Rd, it looks like it is ready for sidewalks,  and it is wide enough for bike lanes,  not sure where they would go except Vits Park.  The rest of Custer St looks wide enough for bicycle lanes.

18th from Magnolia Ave going south to where it changes to Revere Dr to where it changes to S 21st up to Washington St They could take a lane away each direction and put a bicycle lane there.

All these roads people could lose on street parking.

I will look more into road ways that could end up with bicycle lanes in the future for both Two Rivers & Manitowoc.

Stop bad bicyclists in wisconsin Now on facebook

Stop bad bicyclists in wisconsin is now on facebook

I did a search on where bicycles were banned….

My search on places where bicycles are banned,  there are very little if any places where bicycles are banned.

However what does come up doesn’t surprise me.

Screenshot from 2015-07-08 11:28:59

On the yahoo search, the 6th one says “List of car free places”  so that would suggest that bicycles are seemingly allowed nearly everywhere, no where is sacred from a bicycle it would seem.

Now clicking on that link where it says “list of car free places”  It has a world wide list of where motor vehicles aren’t allowed,  but yet when there is talk of prohibiting bicycles from certain roads the bicyclists and advocate groups are screaming, and throwing a fit.

How the bicycling agenda keeps moving forward

If you will take notice, there are many examples, vulnerable user law, vision zero, complete streets,  these will not save you from your own stupidity,  or make you invincible while riding a bicycle.

When there is a bicycle tragedy, that person is used as a martyr for the bicycle advocates to advance their war on cars/driving legislation.  They will have these families come in, and dramatize to senate assembly members, and other politicians to advance their legislation.

Here is how to stay safe while bicycling: Don’t ride your bicycle on highways/rural roads, or any road that has a speed limit above 25mph, or ride outside city limits.  Always have lights on your bicycle when riding at night.  Stop at stop signs, and traffic lights.

Don’t demand respect, respect is earned.

Saying stupid stuff like “I pay more taxes”  just makes people scrutinize the bicycling culture more, and you just get more push back ( like what happened with the vulnerable user law in Wisconsin  ).  Just because you pay for a license renewal and have to register your vehicle,  doesn’t grant bicyclists special rights & privileges. Sell your motor vehicle, and quit complaining!!
